An end to a massive Acai scam
Attorney general Terry Goddard made a historical move when he made Central Coast Nutraceuticals, Inc. (“CCN”) to pay a massive amount of $1,350,000 to the Arizona State involving an Acai scam. All started when State received thousands of complaints against the company involving various online deceptive tactics. The recent one was involving Acai free samples where customers were charged for high cost products other than Acai which they didn’t even order.
Later as explained by Graham Gibson, owner of CCN, there were some pre-selected high cost products in their order form for low cost risk free Acai health supplements. The customers who didn’t deselect the other products were charged heavily. And when they tried to contact the Company regarding this issue they simply neglected. Customers’ calls were never answered or simply put on long hold.
Attorney general Terry Goddard made it crystal clear that online marketers need to be extremely careful while dealing with their customers online and they must disclose all the terms and conditions involving any purchase in the very beginning. He also said Internet is a great hub for marketing and selling products and we should make sure that everything is going along the terms to make it more successful.
